....my favorite book and author...

Books are interesting to read and I find them good sources of information, knowledge and pleasure. In terms of knowing the value of a book, I set criteria in evaluating it such as good content, authority, accuracy, currency, format and more. Using these criteria and my personal interests, I can say that among all the books I've read, there is particular book I describe as my favorite. It is a fiction book entitled, "The Secret of Platform 13". I also consider the author of the book as my favorite author. Her name is Eva Ibbotson. Another title she wrote that I also find very wonderful is "The Island of Aunts".
My favorite book, "The Secret of Platform 13" is about a magical world secretly hidden beyond the walls of platform 13, a train station. In that magical world lives ogres, mermaids, talking wild animals, dwarfs, and other mysterious creatures. In the story, a mission was assigned to four characters and from that mission started a marvelous adventure in the magical world. I loved reading it because every chapter is filled with beautiful and mysterious scenes and I also find it so much excitement and thrill, that I almost finished reading the approximately 300 pages of the book in just one day.
There are also very creative illustrations in the book which really filled up my imagination with so much mysteries and magical things. They all made me have clear views of what certain creatures look like, what are the exact actions done in the thrilling scenes, what do the magical world looks like and what did the characters do in their mission. It is really a nice story, given that I really like magic and I enjoyed mysterious adventures and adventurers.
The name of the author, Eva Ibbotson tattoed on my mind after reading the story. As far I can remember, she is a white american, with short blond hair and indeed, a very beautiful woman. Eva was already popular in my mind since I've read the book, "The Secret of Platform 13" but she became more popular as I read another book she has written entitled, "The Island of Aunts". It is another magical story about the three aunts who kidnapped a girl from the real world and kept her in the magical world to help the sickly and unhappy creatures. It is very wonderful and interesting to read.
I am really looking forward to read other books written by Eva Ibbotson because I know, that there are something more mysterious thrilling, exciting and wonderful stories that Eva has done. I hope I can find and read them soon....

... as I welcomed myself to Web 2.0 environment...

It was during our class in LIS 10 with Ma'am Lyna Estabillo, our teacher. She has given us a very exciting activity of doing our personal blog on the web.
At first, I really felt nervous because I was thinking maybe I won't do a well job. I was afraid to commit mistakes.
As I opened blogger.com, I already found excitement with the blue and orange color of the texts in the splash page. And so, I started creating my account. I've chosen "teenagehoneybug" as my blogger name. I was then so happy when I saw that I already successfully created my own blog! :) It was very fulfilling for me! :)
Applying my own template was also so interesting! :) I saw different designs which I am deciding to apply later on.
It was that time when I first experienced "blogging". What you can see below is my first blog which is about myself, my family, my personal experiences and relationships with other people. Seeing the output or viewing my profile with my first blog was again very fulfilling for me. I felt so glad that I've done the first step! :)
After I blogged, I tried to customize my profile by adding a gadget. I've chosen the picture gadget to add. Unfortunately, I didn't add successfully my pictures on my profile because of some computer problems. I felt a little sad because I am so excited to post my pictures on it! But well, It's okey! :) Ma'am Lyna told us not to feel sad because we can really add our pictures soon. The only problem was the computers we've used that time.
I also learned "hyperlinking" on my blog. I opened "new post" on my profile to post a hyperlink. First, I've typed on Notre Dame of Dadiangas University on the "new post" page. Next, I searched on google.com, data about NDDU. I copied the URL of the NDDU data's page I've opened, highlighted the words Notre Dame of Dadiangas University I've typed on the "new post", clicked hyperlink on the tool bar above the posting, and then pasted The URL I've copied. And that's it! I've posted a NDDU hyperlink! If you haven't tried doing hyperlink on your blog, you try it! You will really enjoy! :)
I also started adding list of blogger's name on my profile. I added Ma'am Lyna, Christine Joyce, Charessa and William's blogger name. It was nice! I already have my first blogmates! :)
My experiences in making my personal blog were really great! I found myself entirely happy, fulfilled and successful with the hands-on activity. It was indeed a very successful chapter in my life as I welcomed myself to the Web 2.0 environment! :) I'm hoping to experience more soon...

Notre Dame of Dadiangas University

I am the one you're looking for..

Hi! I am Diane M. Mejia. My name “Diane” came from the Roman goddess of the moon. I am so much happy to have it as my name because this really makes me feel like a real goddess even if in real life, I am just a simple lady.

To know me better, let me share you things about me. I was born on November 28. 1990 in General Santos City, and I will be turning 19 this year 2009. I am under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius and definitely an optimistic one, as to what Sagittarius fair-skinned, with brown eyes, short brown hair, slim figure and I am passion drawing faces of women, dresses and other things. I like and I follow most of the fashion trends which the modern life brings; and I dislike often times the ordinariness of life.

As for my family status, we were four in the family but now, we are only three. My father, Benito J. Mejia, died due to cancer in the blood when I was 8 years old. My mother, Amelyn M. Mejia then tool all the responsibilities of our family, from food, shelter, clothes, education and love. My older brother, Marco Val M. Mejia was able to finish his college and got a degree on Bachelor of Science in Biology with the help of the educational plan given to him by my father when he was still alive. Nowadays, both my mother and older brother are working for the family.

Entering college life is also meeting the hard challenges that God has prepared for me to face. I am a working student if Notre Dame of Dadiangas University. I am assigned in the Elementary Library of NDDU-IBED located at Lagao, General Santos City. I work five hours five hours a day, from Monday to Saturday and attend to my classes after my duty hours. I find it hard to work and go to school at the same time as I always have limited time for studying, for sleeping and f or doing other things for myself. But I am glad that I can still work it our, especially with the course Im’ taking now.

I am taking Bachelor of Library and Information Science. Who knows I would be taking this course? No one, neither me! I was actually interested to become a nurse or a doctor or a famous tourist guide someday. However, because of financial constraints, this has to take a back seat. So I applied as a working student and glad I was asserted. I enrolled in BLIS program. As months passed by, I’ve learned to love and appreciate my course. This is really an extra – ordinary course and I believe that I can have a sure job as soon as I graduate. I will be managing a library and I will be teaching as well. It is perfectly amazing to be a library science student because I love learning the library works and getting acquainted with the collections. Actually, I am really happy now that I am practicing a lot of library services in the Elementary Library. I really hope I can be a successful librarian someday. I know, I will.

Despite of these challenges I encounter in life, I am so glad to find inspiration from different people who give love and support for me. My first inspiration is God, the one who created me and the reason why I’m living in this world. Second, my family, who are the persons behind every success I’ve attained. Third, are my close friends and even classmates who help me enjoy life despite of various obstacles? Last one, but not the least, is my loving boyfriend. The guy who loves me with honesty and respect. He encourages me a lot to do will in my studies because he wanted the both of us will have a successful future someday.

Thanks for reading my web page!
